Joan and Roy

     Joan was born in Blount County in old Snead about 1/8^th mile from her present home.  She has lived in Snead all her life.  She is the daughter of William O. and Irene (Kilpatrick) Gilam.  She is married to Roy Wadkins and they will celebrate their 40^th anniversary this year.  They have a daughter, Sherrie Woodard and son-in-law Steve.
Joan is a licensed cosmetologist but has worked as a secretary for the past 20 years but only works part time now.  She enjoys traveling, camping and flower gardening.  Joan and her family joined Bethel in 1982.  She has served as Sunday School secretary for more than 20 years.
